The club's Newport home above the harbor: arrivals, champagne and a sparkler send-off.
Harbour Court is the New York Yacht Club's Newport clubhouse, set above Newport Harbor. Weddings here feel like a private celebration in a great house by the water, with the harbor as the backdrop.
I photographed Kate and Juan's wedding at Harbour Court, from the arrival in the forecourt to the champagne tower and a sparkler exit into the night. I work the same way at every club wedding: unobtrusive, documentary first, with portraits when the light is right.
(02) How I photograph it
Three things to plan for
Arrivals
The forecourt and the house make a classic setting for cars and guests arriving.
The harbor
Portraits with the water and boats behind, best in the last hour of light.
The send-off
Sparklers or a late exit photograph beautifully on film. Plan the timing with your planner.
(03) Kind words
“Steve is truly a joy to work with and delivers exactly what we hope for, and more, every single time.”
