The lawn, the bay and the long western light: weddings at Castle Hill Inn, on film and digital.
Castle Hill Inn sits on its own point at the mouth of Narragansett Bay, and a wedding here is shaped by the water around it. Guests drift across the lawn, the light moves slowly, and the best photographs are often the unplanned ones.
I photograph Castle Hill weddings as I do every wedding: documentary first, with careful portraits when the light is right. Film handles the bright sea air and the soft evening beautifully.
(02) How I photograph it
Three things to plan for
The lawn
Wide, open and close to the water. Room for guests to wander, which makes for honest group moments.
Sunset over the bay
Castle Hill faces west across the bay. We plan portraits around the last half hour of light.
After dark
Candlelit tables and the shoreline at dusk. Film and fast lenses keep the mood without flash where possible.

Castle Hill Inn, answered

Yes. Castle Hill Inn is one of my featured Newport venues, photographed on film and digital.

The inn looks west over Narragansett Bay, so the hour before sunset is the strongest time for portraits. I build the timeline around it with you and your planner.
